Works uploaded to the server MUST be properly classified in the keywords, ratings, and filters system. If your submission, including all chapters, is finished, you must flag it as finished (to remove old revisions from the database). In the event that you accidentally violate this policy, there is no penalty, just a warning and a reclassification of works done by the moderation staff. Purposeful violations of this rule will result in an account suspension.

Animal and Anthropomorphic ("furry") characters may not be portrayed in a graphically nude way, nor may they be portrayed engaging in sexual activity on this site.

Characters whom appear to be, or are depicted as, under the age of 13 must not be portrayed participating in ANY sexual activity, whether it be consensual or not. Characters whom appear to be, or are depicted as, under the age of 18 must not be based off of a real child. Violations of this rule will result in an immediate account ban, and in some circumstances, authorities may be notified.

Image submissions are further restricted than stories for several reasons. Unless otherwise stated, violations of the following will result in an immediate account suspension:

• All images submitted to this site must be related to (and linked in the artist's comment) to a literary work posted on the site. Failure to do so may result in the work being removed without warning, and one or more warnings placed on your account.
  
• Photographic materials may be uploaded, however no minor under the age of 13 may be present in the photographs. You must have the consent of the subjects in the picture to post the picture to FicNation, and minors (under 18 in most places) must have parental consent, proof of either personal or parental consent may be requested at any time, instructions will be provided if a request is made. 
• You may not post screenshots of copyrighted materials (i.e televisions shows, video games, etc.) on this site. Even if they have been photomanipped.
• NO PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIALS OR 3D ARTWORK MAY BE OF ADULT NATURE ANYWHERE ON THIS SITE, EVER! THIS WILL RESULT IN A PERMANENT BAN!

"Hate works", which are defined as any work specifically made to insult or degrade a person or groups of people may NOT be posted on this site. By violating this rule, you risk an immediate account suspension or ban.

Submissions uploaded to the server must meet the following minimum requirements to ensure good quality among submissions. This is length and simple spelling/gramatical only, not quality of the plot or actual story. Submissions violating any of these rules will be given 24 hours notice, afterwhich they may be removed without further warning.

• Upon upload, submissions must be a minimum of 500 words in length, throughout all chapters. This does not apply to poetry.
• Drabbles between 100 and 500 words in length may be submitted as a compilation of short works using the chapter feature, however the TOTAL must reach 500 words
• Upon upload, submissions must have gone through minor copyediting to the point capable by an automatic spelling/grammar check, and some proofreading.
• Upon being marked as "finished", submissions must have gone through a reasonable amount of copyediting and proofreading, either by yourself or other users.
• These are the minimum requirements, we urge users to do the best they can, and to show the world their best work

Although we are a strictly over 18 site, some users here would still prefer not to see nudity or sexuality, and have enabled their filters, or choose which submissions to view, based on that fact. Unfortunately, the mature content filter system does not work with comments, journals, avatars, etc. Therefore, we require that you refrain from posting nudity, violence, sexuality, etc. in avatars and other normally visible images, such as ID pictures or theme designs. You should also use caution and use common sense when posting comments, journals, etc. with profanity, talk about sex, violence, drugs, etc. Accidental and occasional violations of this policy will result in warning(s) being given. Repeated or purposeful violations will result in an account suspension or ban.

You may not abuse the system in any ways, including exploitation, hacking etc. Users must also refrain from abusing systems such as the Helpdesk or Report System. Violations of these rules will result in an account suspension or ban.

When using the forums, please place all topics in the appropriate category, and please avoid getting off-topic if the topic is specific. All other rules continue to apply in the Forums, including the prohibition of posting flame or attack threads. Threads of this nature will be closed, and possibly hidden.

One of your rights on this site is a direct interface with the staff if you need any help. Unfortunately, we are OLD, and do not understand a lot of chatspeak and other things like that, so please use proper English (or whatever language you choose to speak) when filing a Helpdesk request.
Please do not abuse the helpdesk. Turnaround time for helpdesk tickets may be up to a week, however we will try to reply to notify you that we have received your message within 24 hours. Do NOT start another helpdesk ticket for the same issue, we will keep you updated, and request more information as we go along.
When contacting staff, you may use any language you wish, however please note that this will increase the turnaround time as most of are native English speakers, and we would have to translate it. If you do use a language other than English, if you could tell us which language it is, that would be greatly appreciated, and decrease the already delayed turnaround time.

As you probably noticed before (if you were reading) users on FicNation must be 18 OR OVER! This policy is required and enforced as adult material is present and accessible on the site. No exceptions will be made to this rule. We reserve the right to request age confirmation in the form of a government issued ID at any time. Upon discovery of a user under the age of 18, they will be suspended until their 18th birthday PLUS the time since they joined the site. If the user rejoins the site, they will be subject to the same penalties as a suspension/ban evasion.
Knowingly hiding a minor on this site is a major infraction of the Terms of Service, and can get us into a lot of legal trouble. If it is discovered that you knew of a user under the age of 18 on this site, you will be given the same punishment as them.

You may NOT create a new account if your original account has been suspended or banned. Nor may you use another account that you had previously. NO MATTER WHAT. If you believe that your suspension/ban was issued wrongly, you may contact the staff via the offline Helpdesk form. You may both appeal (if you believe you're innocent), and request a second chance (if you're really sorry) via that form. Violations of this policy will result in additional account penalties. The first duplicate account will result in an extra 6 months on your original suspension, and the second will result in a permanent ban on all accounts.
Do NOT give suspended/banned users access to your account, or help them create a new one, you will receive the SAME punishment!
